I'm glad to see that you've co-sponsored this important legislation. I'm contacting you now regarding legislation that pertains to this same issue of fairness in immigration proceedings. Last week Representative John Conyers introduced the Restoration of Fairness in Immigration Law Act of 2000, which would restore judicial review in immigration proceedings, allow the release of immigrants who do not pose a danger to society, and prevent indefinite detention of non-citizens whom the INS is unable to remove. I hope that you'll support this important legislation, which would restore to prospective immigrants the same fundamental rights to freedom and due process that they had before the Immigration Reform Act of 1996.
