Subject: Peru: press President Toledo to pardon Lori Berenson

I hope that during your upcoming visit to Peru you will find time to ask
President Toledo to consider pardoning Lori Berenson, an American who is
currently serving a twenty-year prison sentence in Peru for treason.
Regardless of Ms Berenson's guilt or innocence, it appears unlikely that she
was afforded a fair trial.  Her only obvious error lies in the people with
whom she chose to associate -- surely a forgivable error in the case of a
young and idealistic college student.
