This move continues the United States' poor record on recognition of international law, and brings to mind the events in Nicaragua during 1986, when the United States ignored the World Court's order to end its unlawful intervention in Nicaragua and to pay reparations. This past fall, we all witnessed the degree of hatred for the United States that can be engendered by the United States' continued pursuit of unilateralist policies. The world - including the United States - will be better off when such unilateralism is abandoned in favour of participation in, and cooperation with, the international community. Again, I urge you to reconsider the United States' abandonment of the International Criminal Court. Matthew Belmonte
