From: mkb30@cam.ac.uk (Matthew Belmonte) To: info@annecampbell.org.uk Subject: support Early Day Motion 112 regarding evidence of Iraqi weapons Date: Wed, 04 Jun 2003 21:24:32 +0100 Dear Mrs Campbell As your constituent I write to urge you to sign Early Day Motion 112, regarding Iraq and weapons of mass destruction: >That this House, recognising that the principal justification for British >involvement in the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq was the latter's alleged >possession of, and intention to use, weapons of mass destruction, and given >that, to date, no evidence of that country's contemporary capability or >intent with regards to such weapons has been found, calls upon the >Government to publish in full both the evidence it holds, and its sources, >for its assertions used in support of pre-emptive war, in order to pre-empt >the charge that this House has been misled by those assertions. We are confronted with the possibility that Parliament and the British public may have been lied to in order to garner support for a war whose true purposes were not revealed. In order to disprove this possibility, or at least to prevent such misleading campaigns from being waged in future, the Government must publish its evidence for the allegation that Iraq possessed such weapons. Sincerely Matthew Belmonte [address]
