Dear Mrs Campbell

As you know, Katharine Gun, the GCHQ translator who courageously exposed
the Government's misuse of the intelligence services in the political run-up
to the Iraq war, has been charged under the Official Secrets Act and faces up
to two years in prison.  I hope that you'll do everything in your power to
persuade the Government to drop these charges.  The parallels between Gun's
case and the case of Daniel Ellsberg are plain.  Ellsberg did the United States
a great service in leaking the Pentagon Papers, and Gun has done Britain the
same service, at huge risk to her career and her freedom.  People should not be
punished for doing the right thing.
