Subject: Write a Differing Opinion on National Security (Human Rights)

Dear President Bush:

I hope that you will press for a UN Security Council resolution
demanding full and immediate access for aid workers and supplies in
the embattled Sudanese region of Darfur. Janjaweed Arab militias,
backed by the Sudanese government, continue to murder and rape the
population of Darfur and to destroy their houses and poison their
land. The situation is reminiscent of the genocide in Rwanda, during
which the international community sat on its hands. Central Africa's
geographic and economic distance from Europe and America shouldn't
diminish the urgency of its people's plight.
