Subject: join Europe in increasing aid to Africa

I hope that before the G8 summit begins you'll join your ally Tony Blair and
the rest of Europe in pledging to increase aid to Africa.  This humanitarian
issue is one on which the United States can reclaim its role of moral
leadership, one that it has lost in recent years with revelations of prisoner
abuses and human rights violations.  In the context of globalisation, continued
refusal to help place Africans in a position to deal with their own problems
means that those problems will only grow to create future liabilities for the
rest of the world.
