I understand that the Department of Homeland Security intends to implement the `Secure Flight' system of vetting airline passengers, despite its dubious effectiveness and despite privacy concerns. I urge you to insist that Congress enact the important provisions initially passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives in the FY 2006 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill that would (1) guarantee objective GAO oversight by the General Accounting Office, and (2) prevent funding from going to commercial data brokers such as ChoicePoint, which have sold the personal information of millions of people to identity thieves and which offer no easy way for individuals to examine their records and to correct inaccuracies.
