I hope that you'll support HR 4570, the National Security Letter Judicial and Congressional Oversight Act. This bill that would make the issuance of National Security Letters more consistent with the Bill of Rights by requiring that the government demonstrate an actual connection to a suspected terrorist or foreign power, obtain approval from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court or from a federal magistrate, and report semi-annually to Congress on the use of National Security Letters. The Bush government has demonstrated by its arrogance that it needs to have such responsibilities spelled out for it by Congress.
