I know that we can count on your support for the compromise version of HR 3043, the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act 2008. This bill would fund the National Institutes of Health at an appropriate level which, as history has shown, will pay off in terms of lessened human and financial costs of disease. A showing of strong support may make President Bush think twice about a veto. (Instead of cutting corners on health research, he might be forced to cut funding from his Iraq misadventure.)
