This past week the House of Representatives capitulated to the Bush government's demands for unchecked domestic spying, by passing HR 6304, the Hoyer-Bush FISA "compromise." This bill violates the spirit if not the letter of the Fourth Amendment, and fails to allow meaningful judicial review of executive powers. Passage of this bill would almost certainly result in the dismissal of law suits pending against telecommunications companies that collaborated in illegal wiretapping schemes, and I want to see those suits go forward and the details of those schemes made public. I hope that you will vote against HR 6304 when it comes to the Senate.
