Civil asset forfeiture programs violate several provisions of the Bill of
Rights. Please introduce legislation to abolish civil asset forfeiture.
Despite the curbs introduced by the Civil Asset Forfeiture Act of 2000
(HR 1658 / S 1931, PL 106-185), overzealous seizures and instances of guilt
by association still occur.  Seized assets can (and usually do) fund the very
police departments who seize them, and this monetary relationship presents a
fundamental conflict of interest.
