I was encouraged to see the statement of Secretary of State Clinton made against
Israel's practice of demolishing houses in East Jerusalem.  I urge you to back
Secretary Clinton's words with clear actions to compel Israel to stop this
destructive practice.  The United States has for decades turned a blind eye to
violations of human rights in the occupied territories, and Palestinians and
Israelis have both paid the price of the deepening conflict.  Stopping the
destruction of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem will save many families
from homelessness, and will help put a stop to the desperation and seething
resentment that have fuelled the Palestinian conflict for generations.
