I hope that you'll support HR 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. By removing non-psychoactive hemp from the definition of marijuana in the Controlled Substances Act, HR 1866 would permit American farmers to compete with foreign sources of this important, renewably grown industrial fibre. This jointly introduced bill goes beyond parties. As Representatives Ron Paul and Barney Frank observed on introducing the measure, the founders of the United States, some of whom grew hemp, "would surely find that federal restrictions on farmers growing a safe and profitable crop on their own land are inconsistent with the constitutional guarantee of a limited, restrained federal government."
