I hope that you'll support HR 2835, the Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act introduced by your colleague Barney Frank. By removing marijuana from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, this bill would recognise its medical benefit in certain cases when prescribed by a physician. It would also end the federal government's ability to prosecute medical marijuana patients and providers in states where medical marijuana is legal. Legalising the medically supervised use of marijuana would eliminate the conflict between federal and state laws, and would free law enforcement and the courts to spend their valuable time on crimes that actually hurt people.
