Thank you for co-sponsoring HR 1283, the Military Readiness Enhancement Act.
As you know, this bill would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation from the United States military.  An all too typical example of
the consequences of the current "don't ask, don't tell" rule is the case of
Lieutenant Dan Choi, an Arabic language exert who's being fired from the
National Guard for refusing to keep silent.

Especially at a time when retention of experts is suffering, the military can
ill afford this foolish and anachronistic policy.  European militaries have
similar policies of non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation; the
United States ought long since to have followed their example.
