I hope that you'll support S.1686, the JUSTICE Act.  This important bill would
repeal the immunity granted to telecommunications companies by the June 2008
FISA Amendments Act, and would ban the suspicionless, bulk interception of
telephone calls into the United States from overseas.  Most significantly,
S.1686 would amend the so-called USA PATRIOT Act by curtailing the government's
ability to demand records by issuing National Security Letters instead of
obtaining subpoenas: National Security Letters would be subject to judicial
review, to more strict reporting, and to limits on retention of data, and gag
orders would be permitted only when specific risks are articulated.  Support of
S.1686 and similar bills is one vital step in arresting the United States'
slide into fascism.
