Thank you for co-sponsoring HR 4530, the Student Non-Discrimination Act.  As
you know, this important bill would be the first comprehensive federal
prohibition against discrimination in state-supported schools based on a
student's actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.  It would
also provide victims with remedies modelled after Title IX of the Education
Amendments Act of 1972.  Young people can be quite vicious as they act on
prejudices learnt from parents and peers.  High school is difficult enough to
endure even without the added burden of being gay in a homophobic world.
