This past Thursday (18 April) the entire Massachusetts House delegation abstained from a crucial vote which unfortunately passed HR 624, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, sending this terrible and tyrannical bill to the Senate. HR 624 would permit Internet service providers and other information technology companies voluntarily to share users' private information with the intelligence agencies of the US government, without the users in question ever being notified. The bill is worded so vaguely and generally that almost any piece of information, including email and medical records, could be turned over to the government without any warrant or notification. Furthermore, this bill's provisions would override existing privacy laws. I hope that you will vote against this bill which is so damaging to privacy.
