Speaking at the G20 summit in Brisbane, David Cameron has said that he needs to persuade the public about the merits of the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). I agree, and believe that the best and most straightforward way to accomplish such persuasion is to ensure that negotiations as to the terms of trade under TTIP be held publicly, rather than secretly as is currently the case. I urge you to withhold support for TTIP until such time as its proposed terms would become public. To do less would be to risk a back-door privatisation of essentially public services such as the NHS -- whose selling-off to contractors such as Serco already has damaged morale, staff retention (especially amongst nursing staff) and quality of service at our own nearby Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
