As I know that you, like me, supported remaining in the European Union on 23 June, I'm disappointed to see your U-turn on this question as evidenced by your aye votes yesterday in Division 103 agreeing the motion to leave the European Union and especially Division 102 fixing a 31 March deadline for triggering Article 50. The European Parliament's lead Brexit negotiator Guy Verhofstadt recently has affirmed his support for allowing Britons to purchase continuing citizenship in the European Union. I urge you to support such an avenue in the event that - as seems highly likely - Ms May's plan to leave the European Union becomes reality. I further hope that those of us who buy into EU citizenship under such a scheme would have the option of trading UK citizenship for indefinite leave to remain in the UK; although for the moment I still hold a job in the UK, I prefer not to be associated as a citizen with a state that has forsaken Europe.
