I was very disappointed to see that the Justice Department has come out in
opposition to the inclusion in the crime bill of a retroactive safety valve for
nonviolent drug offenders. I'm not looking forward to paying taxes to support
nonviolent offenders rotting in prison when they could be out being productive
members of society. The drug war is wrong morally, and a failure practically.
This policy is tantamount to staying with a sinking ship.
