To: president@whitehouse.gov (Bill Clinton) From: mkb4@cornell.edu (Matthew Belmonte) Subject: I oppose so-called anti-terrorism measures I'm very concerned about your calls for increased police powers following the recent bombing in Oklahoma City. You pay lip service to protection of civil rights, but meanwhile you plan for more wiretaps and infiltrations, on a scale that hasn't been seen since the Nixon administration and the antiwar movement. McVeigh and his accomplice were wrong to kill innocent children and pensioners, but the abstract motivation behind their action was just. They were trying to disrupt a government that murders its own citizens. If your administration hadn't murdered the Branch Davidians at Waco, then nobody would be suffering now from the retaliation. So you are wrong to point the finger exclusively at so-called 'fringe' groups. Next week is the anniversary of the Kent State massacre. Not much has changed since then, has it?
